How the prep estimate is calculated
Inbound cartons are total units divided by units per master carton, rounded up. Outbound cartons use the same count when factory boxes are re-used, or total units divided by units per new box. Each product includes a fixed setup and cleanup time. Every other step is timed per carton, per unit or per label, multiplied by the quantity, and billed at the hourly labor rate. New boxes add a box-build step and the box cost. Each FNSKU label adds the per-label cost.
Cartons heavier than the heavy-carton threshold take longer to stage and put away. Amazon limits standard cartons to 50 lb and 25 in on any side, so outbound boxes over those limits are flagged.
